We needed a jumpsuit on this list

5 Easy & Healthy Lunch Ideas

Since summer is about to be over we thought it would be a great time
to share some easy and healthy lunch ideas with you.
Here's 5 of them, perfect to bring to school or work with you.
These can of course also be used as dinner meal ideas.

1.

Sweet & Sour Broccoli Salad

You need:
About ½ cup of sweet and sour sauce
3 small stalks of broccoli, cleaned, cut into small florets and blanched
1 TB of sesame oil
black sesame seeds
a handful of roasted cashews
and 2 stalks of sliced green scallions.

Spoon out 1/4 a cup of sweet and sour sauce in a large glass bowl. Next add the broccoli and mix. Make sure the florets are evenly coated with the sauce. Drizzle with a tablespoon of sesame oil and mix. Toss in your preferred amount of sesame seeds and a little bit more sweet and sour sauce if desired. Throw in a handful of roasted cashews and mix. Finish with some scallions and give it one last stir.
Plate on a large plate or in a glass container and drizzle additional sauce if needed. This makes about 3 ½ cups and leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 5 days.

2.
Mini Frittata Brunch Bar

You need:
10
large eggs
1/2
cup cooked Mexican chorizo
cup spinach, finely chopped
leek, sliced lengthwise (green parts discarded) and thinly sliced into half moons

tablespoon fresh oregano

DIRECTIONS

  • In a large bowl, whisk the eggs and season with a pinch of salt and pepper.
  • Heat a tablespoon of extra-virgin olive oil in a medium skillet and add the leeks. Season lightly with salt and pepper and saute until slightly browned, 3 minutes. Remove from pan and set aside.

  • Pour the eggs into a non-stick muffin tin.
  • Sprinkle the leeks evenly into each eggy mixture.
  • Followed by a good dollop of the chorizo.
  • Go ahead and throw that spinach in there too.
  • It would be wise to sprinkle some cheese and oregano on top of each frittata.
  • Throw the whole thing into an oven, preheated to 375°F.

Amazing Cabins From All Over The World

Cabins is something we love here on Earthychildren.
It's an escape from life and often a place where you get closer to nature.
We have found 5 cabins that's worth to have a closer look at.

    1.
This first cabin is placed in Uusimaa in Finland
It's basically a glasshouse right next to the sea.
Here's an opportunity to wake up to an extraordinary view.

    2.
Amazing treehouse in Gran Paradiso in the National Park near Cogne in Italy.
It looks tiny, but amazingly cute and close to nature.
That view must be breathtaking as well!

    3.
The surroundings of this hut near Mt. Aspiring in New Zealand is just breathtaking.
I wouldn't spend much time inside that cabin, I would be too busy
getting all lost in the amazing view!

    4.
I couldn't help myself from sharing this small alternative cabin as well.
It's based in Berlin in Germany and it's just so cute.
Looks like it's build by a lot of old used parts and it has a beautiful view.
I can imagine this must be an inspiring place for a painter.

    5.
This might be my favorite one!
It's placed in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.
It's very earthy I can't imagine how stress would be possible spending some time out there.

If you feel like these 5 cabins weren't enough,
and you want to read an entire book about amazing cabins,
then here's the book "Cabin Porn"

First Step To Zero Waste - Get A New Toothbrush

We decided that our first blog post should be a zero waste tip!

Today we are looking at the toothbrush, something pretty much everyone
all over the world use every day. These are 99% of the time made by plastic.

Here's 4 quick reasons why plastic is bad:

    1. There is a lot of it.
According to a study by the Ocean Conservatory in 2015, plastic bags came in second to discarded cigarette butts as the most-identified type of trash.
    2. Rampant waste.
Items like plastic packaging, bags and bottles are thrown away every day, and end up in trash sites as well as in forests, creeks, rivers, seas, and oceans around the world.

    3. Doesn't break down.
Plastic is not biodegradable, but photodegradable. And in reality, most plastic does not ever disappear, but becomes long-lasting "plastic dust".

    4. Danger to aquatic life.
Every square mile of ocean has 46,000 pieces of plastic floating in it. That is why over a million sea birds, whales, seals, dolphins, sea turtles, and so on die from plastic debris that ends up in our oceans and seas.
(Read the rest of the article on: Creeklife

So here's our advise to you:

The next time your plastic toothbrush is ready to be replaced with a new one, invest in a toothbrush that isn't made out of plastic.
Here's some of the options we would recommend:

This toothbrush is from: Ecobamboo is made out of bamboo, it's 100% vegan. The bamboo is brought from private farmers, so it's not taken from the bamboo pandas eat. It's a great alternative for the plastic toothbrush.
This is an alternative to the first bamboo toothbrush, it's from: Ecovik.com. It's basically the same concept, so you can choose the one which is located closest to you, are the cheapest one, that's your decision.
And the last option that we have found online is this one from: Hydrophil. Still the same concept, this shops is located in Germany.

We really hope you liked our first blog post, and will consider purchasing a bamboo toothbrush when your current one needs a replacement. It might not feel like a big change, but imagine if everyone on earth changed their plastic toothbrushes! it would make a big difference!
